The Herringbone Vest

The short-lived days of 70 degree February in Milwaukee are over. This means it’s time to put the crop top on hold and bring out the vests again!

This herringbone vest from J. Crew Factory is one of my favorite staples for fall/winter/spring. I was OBSESSED with the vest when I first saw it online over a year ago. It was $108 at the time so I forced myself to wait for it to go on sale before purchasing. It was one of those semi-unhealthy (okay, maybe totally unhealthy) obsessions where I would check the price of the vest every day and spend a couple minutes just staring at how beautiful it was on the site.

Then one day while I was casually going about my daily routine of checking  the price on jcrewfactory.com, I flipped out. It was out of stock. I’m ashamed to admit that I had such a materialistic desire that could make me so upset, but I was devastated that my hopes and dreams of owning this herringbone vest were demolished.

The vest and I were meant to be though because a couple of days later, the it was back in stock in my size. Cue the singing angels please. I snagged it as fast as I could for the full $108. Didn’t even think twice.

Looking back, I’m a bit baffled that I dished out ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHT DOLLARS for one vest. If you’ve read my “Meet Jenn” page, you know I’m a budget shopper. But hey, the vest has served me well and I love it. Lucky for you, the item has been so popular that J.Crew Factory has brought it back this year and it’s on sale for $49.99 (whaaat!?!) and it’s in stock in all sizes except XXL. You know what they say – the early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese. I’m kind of wishing I was the mouse right now. Would’ve saved me 58 bucks.

Caution! The vest is pretty thin, so it’s more of a fashion vest than one that will actually keep you warm. Also, it runs a bit big. The one I’m wearing is an XXS.

P.S. I need to give a shoutout to my Circus by Sam Edelman booties. The design is unique and the booties are so comfortable.
