Phew! Last week was a bit hectic. I was in Austin for a work trip for three days and didn’t get any time to work on the blog! But I was in 90 degree weather and had the best sushi of my life, so hey I probably shouldn’t complain. Nevertheless, I’m happy to be back in Milwaukee bringing you new content for Honeydew!
One thing I promise I will never do on this blog is to promote products I don’t absolutely LOVE. My JORD watch is definitely one that makes the list of blog-worthy accessories. I’m so excited to be collaborating with JORD Watches today to show you their beautiful wood timepieces and running a special giveaway for Honeydew readers! (Scroll to the bottom if you’re just here for the giveaway details.) But first, I need to teach you how to pronounce the brand name. I’ve been acting like a fool pronouncing it as the name Jordan without the -an. No guys, JORD is pronounced “YODE.” It’s the Swedish word for Earth! Now you don’t have to sound like a dummy like me.
Back to the watches! I am totally someone who loves accessorizing with watches, but never actually uses them to tell the time. I own three other watches, two of which are out of battery. I confess – I still wear them all the time for pure aesthetics and zero utility. Nobody has ever pointed out that the watches aren’t working and I’m a habitual cell phone time checker anyway, so it works out!
However, with my JORD watch (Frankie 35 in Zebrawood and Navy), I’ve discovered it’s so pretty that I actually like looking at it to check the time, just as an excuse to look at the beautiful wooden thing wrapped around my wrist. You know when people say they can’t stop looking at their ring and exposing their hands when they are newly engaged? That’s how I feel about my JORD watch…minus the part about my watch representing a lifetime of committed love.
JORD has a diverse selection of both men’s and women’s watches at various price points. If Kevin was a watch guy, I would totally get him one. Unfortunately the only watch he owns is a fake Rolex he bought in China that’s four links too big. It’s been sitting in his drawers for three years untouched (eye roll). So that’s not happening. Maybe I’ll get the Koa and Rose Gold watch I’ve been eyeing for myself instead…
When I’m showing you my outfits and accessories, honesty is a priority. If there are sizing or quality issues, I like to let you know. I was digging deep to find something about my watch I didn’t love so that I could give you guys a quick disclaimer. Couldn’t. Find. Anything.
The only slight caveat is that the price points ($139-$395) of the watches are a bit of a splurge for me. Ya’ll know I’m a budget shopper. While the prices of the watches are more expensive than what I’m used to paying (I’m talkin’ about my $20 Target watches that tarnish and run out of battery within a couple months) the uniqueness and quality of my JORD watch definitely make it worth the extra dollars. I’m putting together some of my favorite parts about JORD’s watches and services below!
Reasons I’m In Love with JORD Watches
1. Real Wood
This isn’t one of those plastic watches with faux wood prints. It’s the real deal! My watch is made from 100% zebrawood, but there are plenty of different types, textures and grains of wood to choose from. For some reason I was expecting the wood to feel heavy and dense, but the watch is actually quite light.
2. Custom Engraving
I didn’t engrave my watch, but it would have been a really neat feature to include if I was gifting a watch. For $35 Jord will engrave the blackplate of the watch or for $45 they’ll engrave the wooden watch box. Right now, they’re running a special offer where you can engrave select woman’s watches for free until May 14th for a Mother’s Day promo! They can engrave anything from company logos, handwritten messages, standard texts, and uploaded graphics. Bomb.
3. Custom Sizing
I have small wrists. Watches are often too big for me and slide down my forearms every time I lift my hand. Though you have to pay an extra $10 for the service, I loved JORD’s custom sizing option where you send in your wrist measurements for the perfect fit. If you don’t own a tape measure, they’ll even provide a print-out measuring tape. I’m so excited that I now own a watch that fits my small wrists perfectly! In case you made a measurement error or decide you end up wanting a looser fit, they provide two extra links so that you can take your watch to a jeweler to adjust.
This watch comes in the most beautiful packaging. I was giddy opening up the wooden box and seeing my new watch wrapped around a cute burlap pillow. Seriously insta-worthy. (Ugh, I hate how basic that just sounded, but it just rolled off the tongue so much better than, “so beautiful that it is worthy of displaying on social media.”) Also, the box has a handy dandy magnetic lid, perfect for holding little trinkets.
5. Watch Care Supplies
When you’re investing in a nice timepiece, you want to make sure it will last! Your package will come with a cleansing cloth and a oil pen for cleaning and conditioning your watch. If you run out and want more, you can buy the supplies on the site for $15. Otherwise, JORD recommends rubbing the wood with Tung Oil or Lemon oil both of which can be found at hardware stores or online.
